dreamhouse or right-now house?

everybody thinks about their dream house.

maybe it's a giant mansion with an indoor pool, a movie theater, and marble staircases.

or maybe it's a cabin in the woods with lots of privacy.

or possibly a breezy island getaway right on the beach.

i think about those things too.  

what would i buy if i had all the money in the world?  where would i live if it could be anywhere?

but lately i've been thinking more about my right-now house.

what would be perfect for our family at this second?

with the possibility of expanding

well, unfortunately we don't have all the money in the world, and staying in this area is the best option.  now that we have two girls i foresee us outgrowing our little townhouse in the next couple years, especially if a third baby decides to show up. ;)

i think for our ever-growing family our perfect "right-now house" would have four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a basement (which we are currently lacking - boo), some kind of extra room (i.e. office or den) that the girls could use as a play room so our living room isn't constantly cluttered with toys, and a fenced-in backyard!  

there are other things i would love: 

lots of land, lots of storage, definitely an attached garage, preferably a new house or at least well-maintained and updated.
